Lillian Moy‘s exhibition, “Progression: A Series of Shells,” is on display until Fri., September 29 in Hofstra’s FORM Gallery (Calkins Hall, First Floor). The exhibition is the culmination of nearly two years worth of work.

Exhibition description:
This exhibition showcases small-scale models created using 3D printing pens. A 2D pattern is sketched using a 3D printing pen, then hung and heated in an oven until it fully deflects into a 3D form. Finally, the 3D form is flipped to create the small-scale models shown. Different techniques to sketch the 2D pattern were developed: single pass, fusing, and large nozzle. Each technique was used to create a set of three small-scale models that varied in the degree of freeform.
