Two Structures Built from Whiskey Barrel Staves on Display
Robert Humrich and J.C. Uy built two structures on Hofstra’s campus that they had designed for their Honors Theses. Robert’s geodesic dome and J.C.’s reciprocal frame were built with the staves of used whiskey barrels that were donated by Widow Jane and Fort Hamilton Distillery. Their projects explored the potential of reusing short lengths of curved wood in spatial structures.
